Chicago is an amazing city and one of my favorites but I was so excited to get on the road, that I woke up early and headed straight out.
I really enjoyed this stretch of the road because it goes through a lot of small towns and historical sites. It wasn't the best for photographing but still very interesting and enjoyable.

This has been on my bucket list for a long time, so when I got the opportunity to drive Route 66 this summer, I was incredibly excited.
And just because I wasn't actually on Route 66 at all the first day, didn't dampen my excitement. I wanted to do the full route so I had to drive from Nashville to Chicago and officially ship off on day 2.
It was well worth it. Not only did I get to drive every mile (at least of what's left), I also got to spend a night in Chicago. That's never a bad thing.

While I waited for the time-lapse on top of Clingmans Dome, I decided to play around with stills of the Milky Way. I've never been able to capture the Milky Way before so when I saw it come through on the back of the camera I was incredibly pumped.

This was a fun adventure. Had to battle clouds and condensation on the lens but it was still an awesome experience.

I wanted to do a time-lapse like this for a long time. I found the perfect day (that turned out not so perfect) and headed to Clingmans Dome in Great Smoky Mountains National Park to capture this.
I spent 6 hours, battled fog and condensation on the lens, to get this time-lapse. It's not perfect but I really like how it turned out.

Nashville is full of murals. Recently, there was a new one added to the Nations neighborhood. The mural was done by an Australian artist named Guido Van Helten. It stands 15 stories tall and is incredibly impressive.
I thought it would make a great subject for a drone flight. It's awesome to see how the different perspectives and angles highlight different areas of the mural.

This was a fun adventure. I had never been to this area so I got to drive some back roads that were brand new, explore a new National Park (technically a recreation area) and even saw some Buffalo.
All in all a good trip.

I started this journey in search of some dark skies to play with the milky way. While I wasn't able to find exactly what I was looking for with the dark skies, I did find a beautiful lake scene in Kentucky.
I had no idea Kentucky had this kind of scenery in it. I spent an amazing afternoon, evening and night at an amazing campsite on the edge of a lake, watching the sun sink behind the horizon and night roll in.

I love fireworks and thought it would be cool to do a time lapse of the show in downtown Nashville last night. Of course I didn't plan properly and got some bad luck with the wind, but I made a thing.
