And just like that the amazing color was gone. All that was left was downtown LA, shrouded in fog.

This was my favorite moment of the morning. The sky exploded in color and then slowly faded away as the sun rose higher in the sky.

The clouds made the sky explode with color. The fog gave downtown an eerie look.

I love the Hollywood Bowl Overlook so much that I went back the next morning for sunrise. The weather gods were fickle this morning. Downtown was shrouded in fog but it led to some amazing colors.

LA is an interesting place. I get to visit a few times a year for work and I always enjoy my visits but constantly think to myself that I could never live there.
The city is great for time-lapse because of all the constant motion. I especially appreciated the photography gods for sending a blimp to fly around above the city, just for me.

The LA skyline and surrounding area is incredible at night. As much as LA seems to go on forever during the day, it’s 10 fold at night. The lights never stop traveling off into the distance.
This particular visit was cool because of the blimp (the light blob above the right side of downtown) was circling downtown and looked like a spaceship in the dark sky.

Lauderdale By The Sea at Sunrise
This was a windy November morning. The clouds looked promising as the sun started to fill the sky with layers of colors.
The pier off to the left was creating a fun silhouette as the light continued to creep in.

After a little bit of a run in with a truck, I finally got to see it. The orange ball that I love so much climbed above the trees on the horizon and looked right down Broadway. Lighting the empty, partially wet street in beautiful, orange morning light.

The sky begins to come to life
It wasn’t the most beautiful sunrise. There were no layers of color. Just a muddy orange color.
But the neon lights kept humming. And standing in an almost still Broadway continued to be a strangely peaceful experience.

The moon was bright in the clear sky.
While the goal of the adventure was to capture the sun rising on Broadway, I kept getting distracted by the moon. It was a bright, nearly full moon that stood out against a clear, dark sky.
As it made its way toward the horizon, it crossed the radio tower that sits on top of Bridgestone Arena. I thought the features of the moon, set against the dark ask sky the crossing metal in the foreground was a beautiful photo.
