I’d driven by this barn for years and had an image in my mind that I wanted to create. I finally got around to making it and of course it was shrouded in fog. While it wasn’t exactly what I wanted, I think the fog added a nice element to it.

I was surprised to see fog rising off the river this morning but it set up for an incredibly calming start to the day. This was a cool summer morning in late May. It was supposed to be partly cloudy with a good amount of sun, which made it even more surprising to see the fog along the river as I pulled up. The birds were especially talkative. I'm not sure if it was because of the fog, but the combination of the cool air, talkative birds and babbling of the river made for an beautiful relaxing experience.
The clouds made the sky explode with color. The fog gave downtown an eerie look.

While the actual Taj Mahal is by far the biggest draw, the area and other buildings on the grounds of the Taj Mahal are very beautiful as well.
If you go early you are treated to an amazing sunrise. The pollution might not be great for the lungs, but it does help provide some beautiful openings and closings to the day.

As the sun continued to rise in the air it started to cast a beautiful orange hue on the white marble of the Taj Mahal.
The fog had started to burn off but was still lingering in the air.

Part of the amazingness of the Taj Mahal is how different angles reveal the craftsmanship and the intricacy of the design.

This is one of the many famous shot from the Taj Mahal. The sun glowing on the white marble. The reflection in the pool. The fog adding a bit of mystery.
It was so beautiful I didn’t even mind the thousands of people standing right in the middle of my composition.

This is my favorite moment of every sunrise and sunset. The moments when the sun peers over the horizon and announces itself as a giant ball of fire.
This one was made unique by the low clouds partially obscuring it from view.

There’s a lot going on in this picture. The sky is tall and blue. While the lower clouds are bathed in beautiful pink light. The fog is still dancing around in the distance. And in the lower right corner you can see daylight beginning to reveal the Harpeth River.
