Fog

The Taj Mahal Grounds by Dennis Bernhard

The sun rising over the Taj Mahal

While the actual Taj Mahal is by far the biggest draw, the area and other buildings on the grounds of the Taj Mahal are very beautiful as well.

If you go early you are treated to an amazing sunrise. The pollution might not be great for the lungs, but it does help provide some beautiful openings and closings to the day.

Orange Glow on the Taj Mahal by Dennis Bernhard

As the sun continued to rise in the air it started to cast a beautiful orange hue on the white marble of the Taj Mahal.

The fog had started to burn off but was still lingering in the air.

Taj Mahal In Fog by Dennis Bernhard

This is one of the many famous shot from the Taj Mahal. The sun glowing on the white marble. The reflection in the pool. The fog adding a bit of mystery.

It was so beautiful I didn’t even mind the thousands of people standing right in the middle of my composition.

Fire ball through the clouds by Dennis Bernhard

Ball of fire through the clouds

Ball of fire through the clouds

This is my favorite moment of every sunrise and sunset. The moments when the sun peers over the horizon and announces itself as a giant ball of fire.

This one was made unique by the low clouds partially obscuring it from view.

Blue sky and pink clouds by Dennis Bernhard

Blue sky. Pink Clouds.

Blue sky. Pink Clouds.

There’s a lot going on in this picture. The sky is tall and blue. While the lower clouds are bathed in beautiful pink light. The fog is still dancing around in the distance. And in the lower right corner you can see daylight beginning to reveal the Harpeth River.

Narrows Of The Harpeth Sunrise by Dennis Bernhard

The first light of dawn.

The first light of dawn.

This week’s series is from late October at Narrows Of The Harpeth. I’ve been to this spot a couple times but never for a sunrise. It’s one of my favorite views and the best part is it’s only a 20 minute drive outside of Nashville.

This was a cold, foggy morning. It was pitch black when I arrived. The orange light slowly crept over the horizon. I love the way the orange light silhouetted the hills in the distance.

The Oriental Pearl Tower

The Oriental Pearl is a beautiful building all of the time but especially at night. The lights add a spaceship like feel like to the needle like building.

There is a very cool Shanghai history museum in the bottom of this building as well.

The Bund, Shanghai, China by Dennis Bernhard

I recently went to Shanghai, China for a quick trip. This next set of photos is from that trip, leading up to a time-lapse on Friday.

This is my favorite photo from the trip. Even though it was foggy and you can’t see the other buildings (one being the second tallest building on earth), you still get a great view of the Oriental Pearl tower.

I took this photo from the Bund, which is a very cool part of Shanghai that has a bunch of old colonial style buildings and incredibly fancy shopping. Of the many cool areas of Shanghai I visited, this was my favorite. The view of these buildings, especially lit up at night, is crazy beautiful.

San Francisco Time-lapse by Dennis Bernhard

I visited San Francisco for the first time in early March. I've spent years looking at all of the iconic photos fog, bridges, and steep streets. It was very cool to get to run around the city and actually see them in person.

While the weather didn't fully cooperate (I never got to actually see the Golden Gate Bridge), The temp was perfect and what I did get to see was spectacular.

Have you ever been to San Francisco? What's your favorite part?
