This is my favorite moment of every sunrise. The sun is large in frame. It’s not too bright yet. It looks like an angry ball of fire climbing into the sky.
Alas, these clouds stole the moment. I do still think it was cool, peeking through.

It’s crazy how big container ships are. This one came in right as the sun was crossing the horizon. It’s usually my favorite part of each sunrise but the clouds obscured it. The ship gave me something else to focus on which was cool.
Of course the birds were all over this scene. Damn birds.

I loved how the clouds were layered here. The clouds in front were dark and moved very quickly. The clouds higher up and farther behind were lit by the sun and moved much slower in the wind.

End of the rainbow
I made this photo on a Saturday afternoon in Everglades National park. It’s not perfect but I wanted to share it anyway so I love how the width allowed to utilize the rainbow to split the picture in half and highlight the difference in light on each side of the rainbow.

Holey Land sunset
We’re going to try something a little different this week. I’ve been playing around with panoramic photos lately. I like how the added width helps in telling the story.
This photo was taken at Holey Land nature area. It’s essentially a water management area on the edge of the Everglades on the Broward/ Palm Beach county line.
I love how the additional width of the panoramic style allows to capture the intensity of the sun setting off to the right and the softer colors off to the left that aren’t as affected by the sun. It also allows me to capture more of the sweeping clouds higher in the sky.

I never quite got the explosion of color I was hoping for but I did enjoy this sunrise. Of course the kids and birds tested my patience already thinned by the early wake up call.
All in all, it was a nice morning to watch the sun do its thing.

The clouds ultimately betrayed me.
Alas, the clouds betrayed me and were too thick along the horizon. They blocked the actual sunrise, but did manage to give this cool funnel effect in this gap in the clouds at one point.

Orange sky with purple water
I cheated a little bit to make this photo. I zoomed in to cut out the top portion of the sky. This made the entire sky look orange and gave the water a purplish hue.

Orange starts to take over
As the sun continued its journey toward the horizon a really strong orange shade began to appear. I was very excited by this. The clouds were in the perfect place to help that orange explode upwards. I just had to be patient and wait for it.

Lauderdale By The Sea at Sunrise
This was a windy November morning. The clouds looked promising as the sun started to fill the sky with layers of colors.
The pier off to the left was creating a fun silhouette as the light continued to creep in.
