If I’ve said it once, I’ve said it a thousand times. The sun sinking below the horizon will forever be my favorite moment in photography.

End of the rainbow
I made this photo on a Saturday afternoon in Everglades National park. It’s not perfect but I wanted to share it anyway so I love how the width allowed to utilize the rainbow to split the picture in half and highlight the difference in light on each side of the rainbow.

Holey Land sunset
We’re going to try something a little different this week. I’ve been playing around with panoramic photos lately. I like how the added width helps in telling the story.
This photo was taken at Holey Land nature area. It’s essentially a water management area on the edge of the Everglades on the Broward/ Palm Beach county line.
I love how the additional width of the panoramic style allows to capture the intensity of the sun setting off to the right and the softer colors off to the left that aren’t as affected by the sun. It also allows me to capture more of the sweeping clouds higher in the sky.

Rainbow over Everglades National Park
Last Saturday I went down to Everglades National Park to capture a sunset. Unfortunately the spot I picked for sunset, didn’t have a view of the sunset. Don’t ask.
But, it did have an amazing view of a complete rainbow. The setting sun was casting long shadows and laying beautiful golden light on the endless sawgrass.
The rainbow seemed to reach impossibly high into the sky before coming down in a perfect parabola.

This was day 2 of my trip to the Everglades and Keys this past winter. I stayed overnight in the Everglades National Park so I could be up very early for the sunrise. The sunrise turned out to be spectacular and worth every mosquito bite.
I spent the rest of the morning exploring the park including a minor run in with an Alligator crossing a trail.
Stayed turned for part 2 coming soon.

Everglades Sunrise
This photo was taken on the second day of my trip to the Everglades and Keys. This photo was taken at the campground lake in Everglades National Park. I drove in the night before, slept at the campgrounds near the lake and staked my spot super early.
I was a little concerned that the sunrise wouldn't be able to break through the cloud cover, but instead the clouds helped to make the sunrise explode across the sky and last a lot longer than most sunrises.
The mix of bright orange and deep purple was mesmerizing to me. So much so that I didn't even mind getting eaten alive by mosquitos to sit there and watch it. The colors came in waves, ebbing and flowing as the clouds moved across the sky.

This was the beginning of a fun trip. Day one was Loop Road in the Big Cypress National Preserve. I didn't see as much wildlife as I wanted, but I did find a beautiful Hawk and admired some beautiful scenery.

Red Shouldered Hawk
I ventured down to Loop Road off of Tamiami Trail in December in search of some wildlife and to enjoy some of the beautiful wilderness. It was a beautiful Saturday afternoon. The temperature was cool with a slight breeze. The only issue, there wasn't much in the way of wildlife aside from this beautiful Red Shouldered Hawk.
This beauty was perched in a tree near Sweetwater Strand. This is one of my favorite spots along Loop Road. It doesn't take that long to get to, but you feel like you're in the middle of no where. In the later spring months when the water dries up, this area is teeming with all kinds of wildlife.
