Tampa Bay Time-lapse - 4K by Dennis Bernhard

I spent the weekend in Tampa for my cousin's wedding recently and got the chance to catch a sunset. It's not the view I was originally going for, but watching the sun dip into the water is an amazing sight.

I had set out to incorporate the Sunshine Skyway bridge in my shot but couldn't find an vantage point that I liked. Driving back, I noticed some rocks right along the water that I thought would make for an interesting foreground.

It was a beautiful March evening but there wasn't a cloud in the sky which limited the sunset some. Still, the orange band fading into a blue sky is always pretty.

Monroe Station Burns Down by Dennis Bernhard

Monroe Station, Big Cypress National Preserve, Florida

This is Monroe Station. It's one of my favorite photos I've ever taken. Monroe Station was built in the 20's, served as one of the first gas stations on the Tamiami Trail, a sheriff's outpost and in 2005 was named a national historical site.

Tragically it was burned to the ground on April 9th after an idiot climbed on the roof and attempted to light paint (lighting steel wool on fire and spinning it) while his friends took photos below.

It's strange to feel sadness for a building that I've only been to a few times in my life. But sitting in the dark in front of this place on a cold January night, looking up at the stars will be a memory I'll keep with me forever.

Have you ever been to Monroe Station? What's your memory of it?

Florida Keys Vlog by Dennis Bernhard

This is the second part of Day 2 of my trip. I started out in Everglades National Park and ventured down to the keys. It's one of the most beautiful drives you'll find anywhere. I explored all the way down to the Seven mile bridge looking for a spot to make a sunset photo. I found a nice spot but unfortunately couldn't get the photo to turn out the way I wanted.

It didn't matter though. It was a beautiful day and I enjoyed the adventure.

Have you been to the Florida Keys? Where is your favorite place to go in the Keys?

Red Shouldered Hawk by Dennis Bernhard

Red Shouldered Hawk

I ventured down to Loop Road off of Tamiami Trail in December in search of some wildlife and to enjoy some of the beautiful wilderness. It was a beautiful Saturday afternoon. The temperature was cool with a slight breeze. The only issue, there wasn't much in the way of wildlife aside from this beautiful Red Shouldered Hawk.

This beauty was perched in a tree near Sweetwater Strand. This is one of my favorite spots along Loop Road. It doesn't take that long to get to, but you feel like you're in the middle of no where. In the later spring months when the water dries up, this area is teeming with all kinds of wildlife.

Have you been to Loop Road? What's your favorite part about it?

Lifeguard Sunrise by Dennis Bernhard

Lifeguard Sunrise

I'm not a big fan of the beach, but there is something about being there in the dark, and watching the sky and ocean come to life as the sun rises. It's magical. This particular morning was even more incredible because of how calm the ocean was. I've only ever seen it this calm a handful times in my entire life. The stillness of the water added an extra element of serenity to this picturesque scene.

This spot is at the tip of Miami Beach. It's as south as you can get on South Beach, a place called South Pointe Park. I've always admired the lifeguard towers on Miami Beach. Most of them are very colorful and very "Miami". I like this one because it's painted as if it was a lighthouse, which is interesting because it's only a few yards away from the major entrance to the Port of Miami that ironically doesn't have a lighthouse.

Tell me about your favorite time at the beach. Do you like to get up early for a beach sunrise?
