Once the sun dipped behind the mountains the layers of soft color revealed themselves. Deep blues and violets blended with pinks and dark oranges that lived in the clouds.

Morton Overlook in Great Smoky Mountain National Park
Morton Overlook is a beautiful spot along the road up to Clingman’s Dome. I like it because it exemplifies the layers of ridges that make the Smoky Mountains so beautiful.
It is also one of my favorite places because the altitude gives me a break from the summer heat.

While I waited for the time-lapse on top of Clingmans Dome, I decided to play around with stills of the Milky Way. I've never been able to capture the Milky Way before so when I saw it come through on the back of the camera I was incredibly pumped.

This was a fun adventure. Had to battle clouds and condensation on the lens but it was still an awesome experience.

I wanted to do a time-lapse like this for a long time. I found the perfect day (that turned out not so perfect) and headed to Clingmans Dome in Great Smoky Mountains National Park to capture this.
I spent 6 hours, battled fog and condensation on the lens, to get this time-lapse. It's not perfect but I really like how it turned out.
Have you been to Clingmans Dome before? What's your favorite part?
