The Oriental Pearl is a beautiful building all of the time but especially at night. The lights add a spaceship like feel like to the needle like building.
There is a very cool Shanghai history museum in the bottom of this building as well.

Koi pond in Yu Garden
Another of my favorite spots in Shanghai was Yu Garden. This is an ancient garden in the middle of Shanghai. It’s incredible how you can go from the hustle and bustle of one of the most populated cities on the planet, into one of the most serene and peaceful areas I’ve ever been to (minus all the tourists).

Shanghai has a very interesting history of semi-colonization. As part of that there is an area called the French Concession. As the name sounds, it is an area of Shanghai that was run by the french starting in the late 1800s.
This was my second favorite part of Shanghai. It’s has a completely different look to it. The tree lined streets really make you feel like you are walking through Paris.

I recently went to Shanghai, China for a quick trip. This next set of photos is from that trip, leading up to a time-lapse on Friday.
This is my favorite photo from the trip. Even though it was foggy and you can’t see the other buildings (one being the second tallest building on earth), you still get a great view of the Oriental Pearl tower.
I took this photo from the Bund, which is a very cool part of Shanghai that has a bunch of old colonial style buildings and incredibly fancy shopping. Of the many cool areas of Shanghai I visited, this was my favorite. The view of these buildings, especially lit up at night, is crazy beautiful.

This isn’t the prettiest sunrise but there’s something about it that I really like. The muddy colors and the big orange ball of fire rising above the horizon is still so cool to me.

This shot is from the last scene. Again, the light is a little muddy. Not as clear as other sunrises, but I think it adds a uniqueness to this one. I still the way the light, just off to the right of frame, shines on the buildings.

Sun breaking the horizon from Love Circle.
This is my favorite shot from the time-lapse. I love how the sun looks as it breaks the horizon. Literally a ball of fire rising into the sky. So cool.

Two of the many cranes around Nashville.
If you’ve spent any time in Nashville you’ve seen all of the cranes around town. I like this photo because of the way the cranes frame up the Children’s Hospital and really stand out against the dark, muddy sunrise behind.

Downtown Nashville early in the morning from Love Circle
Today’s post is the first in another sunrise series of Downtown Nashville. This time from Love Circle which is a cool park/high point in the middle of a very nice neighborhood, just outside downtown.
This particular sunrise had a very muddy feel to it. I’m not sure if it was from the clouds or maybe a little fog, but the colors weren’t as sharp which led to some really interesting colors.

This is my favorite spot in all of Nashville. You're not really supposed to go here so I sometime get kicked out but today, the time-lapse gods were on my side and I got to finish the full sunrise.
