This was such a great way to kick off my trip to Seattle. The snow covered mountains, elevated viewpoint over the sound, cool weather, dancing boats and an incredible setting sun all combined to make a perfect evening.

Still
The further the sun sank below the horizon, the more still the area became. The boats that had been out in the sound watching the sunset returned to dock. The wind calmed. The colors of the sunset started to blend together as darkness enveloped the scene.
It was a great way to end my first day in Seattle.

Snow still holding on to the peaks across the sound.
As a kid from Florida there are two parts to this photo that I love. The mountains and the snow. Even though it was mid-May, snow was still holding on to the peaks of these mountains.
As the sun sank further and further behind the mountains, the orange sky started to light to a pinkish color and that made the snow stand out even more.

I love this shot, not only because of the sun dipping behind the mountains in the distance, but because of the cargo ship in the foreground.
The elevation of Sunset Hill provided a very cool perspective for all of the watercraft down below, but especially this giant cargo ship. I love how small and toyish it looks being pulled out to sea by the tug.

Sunset Hill, Seattle
I wanted to take a trip to the Pacific Northwest for a long time. Last year I was lucky enough to spend a few days in Seattle.
This photo is from a spot called Sunset Hill. It’s a beautiful area on the edge of a lovely neighborhood. I was able to sit in a picturesque park on a cool May afternoon and watch the sun sink behind the snow-covered mountains in the distance while all kinds of boats danced around the sound below.

Radnor Lake State Park
I ventured to Radnor Lake State Park in hopes of catching the last bits of fall. I liked this photo because the setting sun had started to dip below a near by hill, simultaneously bathing the trees in beautiful golden hour light and chilling shadow.

A New Mexico road bending and winding up a hill.
Once again, the hills got me. I loved how the road disappears around the bend to the left and then reappears on the other side of the frame to disappear once again up a hill and around another bend.
And again, it was astounding how long I could stand in the road without having to worry about a car. I'll never get used to that.
