2018 was a great year. I got to travel across the country and around the world. Hereā€™s my best shots smooshed together into one day.

Thank you to everyone who watched my videos this year. This will be the last video for 2018. Iā€™m off to Tokyo and India. Be on the look out for more videos in the new year.

The Road Goes On Forever... by Dennis Bernhard

Route 66

Route 66

This stretch of Route 66 in California is flat and fast. The newly paved and painted road not only makes for nice photos, its makes for a flying sensation as you speed across the desert.

A pass on the Oatman Highway

A pass on the Oatman Highway

Oatman Highway is rocky and rough. The curves are fun to drive, with just a touch of fear from the sheer cliffs. Off to the side are these rocky outcrops.

Curvy fun

Curvy fun

This is a short but extremely fun portion of Route 66. I love the combination of the road going downhill, curving, then disappearing around the bend.

Rocky Distance

This is my favorite photo from the entire trip. The road provides an interesting foreground. The rocky outcrop in the middle leads to the mountain range and the clouds in the background.

Back That Ass Up - Route 66 Road Trip Day 8 by Dennis Bernhard

This was an interesting last day of the trip. I had a stand off with a donkey, played in the desert, got to drive my favorite road of the entire trip and ultimately make it all the way to the Pacific Ocean after sitting through a lot of frustrating traffic.

Standing on a corner in Winslow, Arizona by Dennis Bernhard

This was a fun day in Arizona. All of the photos below were taken on the same incredible day.

The Painted Desert

The Painted Desert is vast, so colorful and so outer worldly, I almost didn't know how to capture it. I felt the panorama did a good job of capturing how vast it is. The next two photos do a great job of showing the colors and varied the landscape is.

Petrified Forrest National Park

Petrified Forrest National Park

A little down the road from the Painted Desert is a Martian landscape. Rock formations, dry cracked clay surface and shrubs seem to go on forever.

Arizona range

Arizona range

This range ran along side Route 66 for miles. I loved how the setting sun light up the range and the clouds as they ran by.

I'm not a huge Eagles fan, but it was very cool to stand on a corner in Winslow, Arizona and see all of the tributes to the song by The Eagles.

Driving Through Mars - Route 66 Road Trip Day 7 by Dennis Bernhard

Today was full of incredible landscapes that I had never seen before. Petrified Forrest National Park was like driving onto Mars. Every turn revealed colors, rock formations, vistas and just plain awe inspiring beauty that is a world unto itself.

Arizona Landscape Timelapse by Dennis Bernhard

The most impressive aspect of the west for me, and this part of Arizona specifically, is the vastness of the landscape. You can see forever, which allows for incredible views of clouds and rain storms as they pass over.

It's incredible to me how you can see the rain falling from the clouds and hitting the ground.
