This was a fun time-lapse to shoot. I really love the way the roller coaster and ferris wheel turned out against the orange glow of the setting sun.

The World-Famous Pacific Park against the setting sun.
I’ve wanted to create this photo for a while and it came together perfectly. The lights and motion of the rides set against a background of dark clouds and a setting sun.
I still find it astonishing that there is a theme park on a pier, but it sure it pretty.

A moody sky, yet calm waters.
At the end of the pier, amongst the crowd of people fishing, the sun slipped below the horizon obscured by a cloudy sky. Despite the ominous look of the clouds, it was a pleasant evening with calm waters.

The beach is seemingly endless
At the end of Palisades Park is the famous Santa Monica Pier. Strolling out onto the pier the beach seems to go on forever.

This week’s posts are from the first stop on my December trip. It all started with a day in LA.
I hadn’t spent much time in Santa Monica so I decided to spend the afternoon there. I started in Palisades Park which provided this amazing view of the hills meeting the ocean.

The sun rising over the Taj Mahal
While the actual Taj Mahal is by far the biggest draw, the area and other buildings on the grounds of the Taj Mahal are very beautiful as well.
If you go early you are treated to an amazing sunrise. The pollution might not be great for the lungs, but it does help provide some beautiful openings and closings to the day.

Orange glow from the rising sun on the white marble of the Taj Mahal.
As the sun continued to rise in the air it started to cast a beautiful orange hue on the white marble of the Taj Mahal.
The fog had started to burn off but was still lingering in the air.

The Taj Mahal through the surrounding trees.
Part of the amazingness of the Taj Mahal is how different angles reveal the craftsmanship and the intricacy of the design.

The famous shot of the Taj Mahal reflecting in one of the many pools.
This is one of the many famous shot from the Taj Mahal. The sun glowing on the white marble. The reflection in the pool. The fog adding a bit of mystery.
It was so beautiful I didn’t even mind the thousands of people standing right in the middle of my composition.

First sighting of the Taj Mahal
I traveled to India at the end of December. I’ve always wanted to experience Indian culture and food at the source, but my main motivation for going was to see the Taj Mahal.
You can see parts of the Taj Mahal from different areas around the city but it’s nothing compared to walking through the gates, into the dark interior of the entrance and seeing the beautiful, white shimmering building for the first time.
